Christmas all wrapped up for children in Serbia

PUPILS at Ladybridge School in Bolton are helping to spread some festive cheer.

They have filled and wrapped hundreds of shoe boxes with little luxuries and necessities for less fortunate children in Serbia.

The idea to support the charity, The Samaritan’s Purse, which organises Operation Christmas Child, came from two Year 11 students, Laura Horne and Alex Gesicka.

Assistant headteacher Sean Gallagher said: “They approached me and introduced me to the charity. They asked me if I could help them get the project off the ground.

“I have been overwhelmed by the response of our students who have gone home, dug out a shoe box, decorated it with Christmas paper and filled it with goodies which will be received by children less fortunate than themselves this Christmas.”
