Singer proves she’s on song for success

KENNEDY Ross is hoping that she will be the next big star to come from Bolton.

The 13-year-old singer has just won a national talent competition, Festival 4 Stars which has previously been won by George Sampson and Faryl Smith of Britain’s Got Talent fame.

Now Kennedy, a pupil at Canon Slade CoE High School, Bradshaw, hopes to follow in their footsteps.

She said: “It was fantastic as this is one of the biggest competitions I have entered.

“I was surprised to win because there were a lot of other talented people in the final.

“I love singing and I hope I can make a career out of it, and I would like to enter the X Factor or Britain’s Got Talent in the future.”

Kennedy, who lives in Saunton Avenue, Harwood, beat more than 500 entrants to the top prize.

She won the North West heat to perform in the final in Glasgow, which was judged by X Factor finalist Ruth Lorenzo, Blue Peter’s Zoe Salmon, EastEnders actor Todd Carty and Hollyoaks’ Alice Barlow.

She sang Syrup and Honey from Duffy’s Rockferry album. The prize is a weekend in London where she will enjoy a recording session, vocal training and a photo shoot.

She will also be performing at the Festival Marquee in Victoria Square in Bolton town centre on December 5.

Her mother, Tracie, said: “We are so proud of Kennedy. Everyone said her time would come and this time it was her turn.

“Her dad, Tony, and sister, Reagan, were not there to see her win, but they jumped in the car at 4pm and made it to Glasgow for 8pm to see her sing again.”
