Stars join forces for ambulance charity

COMEDIAN Ricky Gervais and boxer Ricky Hatton are among a host of celebrities who have joined forces to make a special Christmas video for the North West Air Ambulance charity.

With the help of a male voice choir, the charity has recorded its own “medical” version of 12 Days of Christmas in the hope people won’t leave the life-saving service off their present list.

Other stars appearing in the video include comedy legend Bobby Ball and several members of the Coronation Street cast including Bolton actress Helen Flanagan, who plays teen temptress Rosie Webster in the soap.

Instead of 10 lords a leaping, the air ambulance has come up with 10 splints assorted, and eight maids a milking becomes…eight sticking plasters!

The video was recorded at the North West Air Ambulance hangar at Blackpool Airport with the Blackpool Male Voice Choir singing their version of the 12 Days of Christmas in front of one of the charity’s two helicopters.

It is hoped the video will become a YouTube hit, and inspire members of the public to send the North West Air Ambulance a Christmas present in the form of a donation.

The Charity needs £3.9 million each year to keep the region’s two emergency helicopters flying across the North West and saving lives on a daily basis.

Charity Chief Executive Lynda Brislin said: “This is just a fantastic video and I’m indebted to the choir and all the celebrities who gave up their time for this exciting project.

“We don’t expect the song to go to number one in the charts, but we would love people not to forget the air ambulance at Christmas and make a donation as a very special Christmas present.”

The charity hopes that radio stations will play the song, TV stations give it a little airtime and local newspapers highlight this unusual Christmas venture.
