A MAN found dead in his home in Bury died from multiple stab wounds, a post mortem examination has found.

The man, named as Kevin Fielding, aged 41, was found in his flat in Cameron Street at around 10.15am on Monday.

Police are treating it as murder and are appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr Fielding in the days before he was found on Monday morning to come forward.

It is believed he could have died a few days before as he failed to turn up for an outing on Friday evening.

Mr Fielding lived alone but was supported by social services and his family as he had Asperger Syndrome and was epileptic.

Det Supt Julian Ross, of Greater Manchester Police's major incident team, said: “Kevin appears to be a completely innocent victim, stabbed to death in his own home.

“There is no clear motive for this brutal attack. Kevin kept to himself and just got on with his life, but for some reason, someone has chosen to take that life away.

“We need to work out Kevin's movements prior to his death and I would ask if anyone has seen him in the last few days to please get in touch.

“Also, if anyone noticed anything or anyone suspicious in the area of Cameron Street, please call us.

l A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was last night being questioned by police.
