WIG-wearing DJs and tutu-clad ballerinas entertained shoppers in Bolton as a new season of weekly shows got under way.
The Bread and Butter Company brought its comedy characters to Victoria Square for the first in a series of performances.
Bolton Council put on Saturday’s event after the success of a similar scheme last year aimed at lifting shoppers’ spirits in the New Year.
Comedy DJ duo Ian Boothy and Martin Hannett played classic “feel good” hits on request and made balloon animals for children.
They later transformed into Fifi Pavlova and Dame Margot Fondue, dressed in lilac lycra and fuschia-coloured net skirts to entertain passers-by.
New acts will be in the town centre this month and in March. They include George Orange, a clown with tricks and stunts, the Grand Theatre of Lemmings with their Mechanical Morris Men show, and double act Jones and Bernard.
A council spokesman said: “We are putting on the events to help make shopping in Bolton a more enjoyable experience. It has been a really bright day too.”
