A DRIVER had a lucky escape when a car flipped on to its roof.
The accident happened at 3.15pm yesterday on the northbound carriageway of the M61, where it joins the A666 heading into Bolton, near to the Kearsley roundabout.
Police were called and two lanes were cordoned off for a short while while the silver Vauxhall Corsa was moved.
Witness Paul Freary said: “The driver was very lucky not to have suffered any injuries. The debris was scattered across both lanes of the carriageway, forcing the traffic on to the hard shoulder around it.
“There was damage to the central reservation barrier.”
A police spokesman said: “Lanes one and two were closed and debris was cleared off. It was a one-car collision and there were no injuries.”
The accident caused short delays.
