HE has been seen in various places across Bolton since going missing last October.
But so far, Sam the spaniel-collie cross has evaded capture.
The eight-year-old pet has been on the run since escaping while on a walk with his former owner, an elderly man from Great Lever, who has since died.
Now the boss of the animal shelter at which Sam was cared for before being rehomed, is pleading for help in tracking him down.
She is being helped by Beccy Egan, who took in Sam before he was given a permanent home in Bolton.
Mrs Egan, aged 37, of Rochdale, said: “He is not an aggressive dog but he can be quite hard to get hold of. We just want him back.”
Sam has been spotted by a number of people since his escape.
Kathy Walton, chairman of Bolton-based charity Pet Rehome, saw the dog most recently in Bromley Cross on Thursday, February 18.
He was also spotted in Deane in early February by Mrs Walton’s neighbour, and in Victoria Square in mid-December by a man who lives next door to Sam’s former owner.
“People have also seen him in Haslam Park. They all either know Sam or have seen pictures of him,” said Mrs Egan.
Sam was wearing a collar and a yellow ID chip tag when he went missing.
