A BOLTON funeral director has become the youngest ever member of Radcliffe Rotary Club.
Eighteen-year-old Michael Oglesby decided to join the organisation to help other people and raise money for charity.
He is one of the youngest people in the country to become a Rotarian and is 37 years younger than the next member of the Radcliffe branch.
Michael, of Calf Hey Close, Radcliffe, said: “My neighbour, Jim Linihan, is the current president of Radcliffe Rotary Club and he always seems really happy. He told me about the club and I was really interested.
“I thought it would be full of old fogies and be very boring, but it isn’t like that at all. Everyone is really nice and has a great attitude.
“I have only been there for five weeks, but I already consider quite a few people to be friends.
“I joined the club to help those in a difficult situation. I'm not naive and know I can't do it all alone. I want to work within a group of people with the same ethics and really make a difference in my community and in the greater society.”
A former pupil of Radcliffe Riverside High School, Michael has since qualified as a funeral director and works at Gibsons Funeral Service in Bolton.
