Chip celebration for Mayor’s Mile walkers

WALKERS who complete the Mayor’s Mile can celebrate with free chips — thanks to a restaurateur.
Tasos Pattichis, owner of Olympus Fish and Chip Restaurant, in Nelson Street, is offering buy-one-get-one-free on cones of chips for everyone who finishes the charity walk in May.
He said: “I was delighted to get involved in the Mayor’s Mile. I want to urge as many people as possible to take part in this event.”
Walkers will trek five-and-a-half times around the Town Hall on Sunday, May 2.
The £5 entry fee will go to the mayor’s charities — Bolton Destitute Animal Shelter, Diabetes UK, Manchester Heart Centre and the Bolton Thoracic Medicine Unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
Walkers can then raise additional sponsorship for their own causes.
Bolton Council is also planning entertainment on Victoria Square for the day. The Mayor of Bolton Cllr Norman Critchley said: “We’re looking for all the support we can get and offers like this are wonderful.
“Olympus is a great place that is well known in the town — we are very grateful that they are supporting the Mayor’s Mile.”
