Man detained and arrested outside mosque in Bolton

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife and breaking into a car outside a Bolton mosque.
Police say the incident is not connected with the planned English Defence League protest taking place tomorrow.
The man, who is local to the area, was allegedly seen with a knife on Grecian Crescent shortly before 2.15pm.
The incident has sparked concern amongst members of the public on the eve of the demonstration.
Sgt Rachel Bedford from Greater Manchester Police said: "Two men noticed a man trying to break into a car some 500 yards away from the mosque, detained him and presented him to officers.
"This man was in no way linked to the English Defence League protest in Bolton."
