A MAN has been accused of murder at Manchester City Magistrates Court.

Denis Burgess, aged 30, of Ash Grove, Walkden, and Paul Johnson, aged 24, of no fixed address, were charged with the murder of 30-year-old Stockport man David Barnshaw, whose body was found in a burned-out car in Brinnington.

The pair made no application for bail and were remanded in custody to appear at the Crown Court on May 23.

They face further charges of conspiring to murder Mr Barnshaw, conspiring to pervert the course of justice by destroying a car and a mobile phone card, and conspiring to supply cocaine and cannabis.

Three other men have already been charged with murdering Mr Barnshaw in September 1999, and conspiracy offences.
