BEING a rescue dog would make any dog lose faith in humankind -- but not these two.

Jack and Tango had a terrible start in life, but now they mean the world to their "humans".

Jack's owner, Tracey Moores, and Tango's owner, Audrey McCann, both contacted PET LIFE to sing the praises of their pets, which came from the Destitute Animal Shelter and the RSPCA respectively. Jack was rescued after wandering the streets, while Tango was the victim of a cruelty case.

"When we first got him he used to chew, but that was his way of getting attention," Tracey, from Astley Bridge, wrote.

"Now he has to be vaccinated once a year, plus flea and worming treatments -- which is quite expensive, but what I get back is so precious!"

And she added: "I would not be without him.

"The hours of pleasure I get from Jack never end.

"I am so proud and very lucky to have him." Audrey, from Farnworth, said her Tango had no hair when he first arrived at her family home, due to a skin complaint.

"It took him such a long time to get well again," she explained.

"But here he is, such a lovely dog and he is so faithful -- he follows us everywhere!

"He has been a great pal to us, we wouldn't be without him.

"He had such a bad start in life, it's nice to see him now, all cuddly and loved to bits."
