A GOLFER from Adlington near Chorley struck it lucky this week after one of the country's most famous landmarks said it would continue to sponsor her.

Lora Fairclough, 30, rated as one of England's most talented golfers is delighted that Blackpool Tower and Circus are sponsoring her for the second year running.

Lora started playing golf when she was just 11 years-old with a handicap of 45.

Two years later, her handicap was one, making her Britain's youngest one handicap golfer at 13 years and 10 months. A professional since the age of 21, Lora said: "It's wonderful that Leisure Parcs, owner of Blackpool Tower and Circus are continuing to support my career. It takes the pressure off and allows me to play to the best of my ability."

Improving her position all the time, she played in 14 events last year, was in three top tens and finished seventh in the Order of Merit.

She is due to fly out to Italy today (Thursday) to take part in the Ladies Italian Open.

Leisure Parcs managing director of Marc Etches said: "As the Tower's profile is raised not just nationally but internationally, our sponsorship of Lora as she travels the world reinforces our presence on a global scale. We wish her continued success as her career goes from strength to strength."
