WIGAN'S young forward Steve Barrow is faced with a dilemma today.

The lifelong St Helens fan knows that victory for his home town side over Warrington will give them the inaugural Super League title - but at the expense of Wigan.

The 20-year-old admitted: "I never thought I would be cheering for Warrington to beat St Helens. I have followed Saints all my life and been to Wembley only for them to lose to Wigan, but now it is different."

Barrow, son of former St Helens and Leigh full-back Frank, did his best to ensure the title went to the final game by helping himself to a hat-trick of tries in his side's rout of relegated Workington on Saturday.

It was Barrow's first score for the senior side and, along with the rest of the Wigan outfit, he revelled in a one-sided affair which saw them run in 14 tries. It was Wigan's highest score of the season , but it was before the lowest crowd - just 6,466.

Henry Paul also bagged a hat-trick with other scores coming from Jason Robinson (2), Simon Haughton (2), Shaun Edwards (2), Andy Farrell and Danny Ellison. Farrell also added nine goals and Va'aiga Tuigamala two. The Cumbrians' only consolation was a late Mark Johnson try.

Wigan coach Graeme West almost conceded the title to the Riversiders' arch-rivals when he said: "Saints are on the crest of a wave and I think they will have too much class for Warrington."

If the championship eludes them Wigan have one last chance to grab some silverware in the Premiership. They take on Bradford Bulls at home next Saturday (ko 7pm) with the final at Old Trafford eight days later.

By then the future of Shaun Edwards should have been decided as the board meet early this week to discuss what to do with the Central Park stalwart.

Edwards said: "I should have a better idea on Tuesday. I want to extend my contract here from 16 months to two years. I know that London are interested and Martin Offiah is keen for me to go down there."
