A YOUNGSTER who broke his foot in a playground accident claims he spent the rest of the day in school without receiving medical attention despite complaining he was injured!

John Tickle, 11, was taken to hospital by his dad after being picked up from school in tears.

Now the boy's angry parents, David and Alice Tickle, who are taking legal advice over the situation, are demanding to know why their son, a pupil at Duke Street County Junior School, Chorley, was left to suffer.

The couple, of Ullswater Road, Chorley, have complained to the local education office in Chorley.

Mrs Tickle, aged 40, claimed John told a teacher about the injury - sustained at morning break when the youngster accidentally kicked a wall during a game of football.

"I asked John what the teacher did and he said he was just told to sit down and rest his foot, without it being examined," claimed Mrs Tickle.

Because Mr Tickle was a little late meeting John from school the boy had decided to set off walking home.

"He was crying his eyes out when I picked him up. He was in great pain," said Mr Tickle, aged 41.

He added: "I took him home. We looked at his foot and I could see it was swollen. I took him to hospital and they X-rayed it and discovered a small fracture.

"They have a first aider at school and he didn't even get to see her," stormed Mr Tickle.

No-one from the school would comment because an official complaint had not been lodged.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "Mr Tickle did bring this matter to the attention of one of our education welfare officers who passed the information to the head teacher. This will be a matter for the school."
