HORWICH cyclist Vinny Smith finished in third place in the 48 mile Bishopswood Road Race at Selby while Pete Halliwell was unlucky to suffer mechanical trouble and was forced to retire when going well.
Elsewhere, Mark Leyland was tenth in the 54 mile Last Gasp road race at Eccleston. Roy Francis, Dave Leyland, Phil Hamer and Steve Betley all finished in the main bunch.
