THE name of Bolton's newest school has been revealed during a special ceremony.
Leverhulme County Primary School will replace the merged Roscow Fold and Crompton Fold Schools at the start of the next school year.
Bolton Mayor Cllr Frank White was invited to unveil the new name in front of hundreds of primary school children, parents and staff.
Roscow Fold and Crompton Fold, Breightmet, will close as part of a review of school places being carried out in Bolton to reduce surplus classroom places.
Leverhulme CPS will open on the site of Crompton Fold School. It will have a nursery class of 39 full-time equivalent places, and an school capacity of 210 places.
The new school uniform will be made up of a purple sweater and pale blue polo shirt.
Since the proposals were announced in December, the schools have been working closely to ensure the amalgamation goes smoothly.
And children and parents have been coming up with new names for the school.
The name Leverhulme CPS was chosen because of its proximity to Leverhulme Park.
Roscow Fold deputy headteacher Barbara Barlow said: "It is sad that the schools are closing but also very exciting."
