A FACEBOOK row ended in tragedy when a teenager with dreams of becoming a police officer was stabbed to death.

Cody Turner, aged 17, confronted another teenager about comments made on the social networking site which had upset his sister, Lois.

His family say he did not want to cause trouble, but an argument followed and ended with a kitchen knife being plunged into his chest on Thursday night.

Cody, of Pixmore Avenue, Hall i’th’ Wood, was helped from the house in Tonge Moor Road by a friend.

His sister held him in her arms as they waited for an ambulance, but he was unable to speak.

Cody, whose nickname was T-Bob, went into cardiac arrest and paramedics tried to revive him.

He was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital but after 90 minutes, doctors told his family he had lost his fight for life.

Yesterday, his shocked family paid tribute to him.

His father, Paul Turner, aged 35, said: “He was a very bright, intelligent, young lad.

“He would do anything for anyone. He was the best son in the world — he was one of a kind. He has left a big hole in all our hearts.”

Cody left Sharples School last summer with 12 GCSEs, including A* grades in several subjects.

He told his family he wanted to join the police or become a chef. He was due to start on work placement yesterday.

On the night he died, he had been watching his favourite football team, Liverpool, against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League, in the Castle pub in Tonge Moor Road.

He later called at the house nearby to speak to someone about the Facebook notes. He suffered a single stab wound when he was attacked just before 11.30pm.

Someone at the house where the incident happened called an ambulance at 11.33pm and paramedics arrived 12 minutes later.

Police were also called and cordoned off the scene.

Tonge Moor Road was closed at its junction with Crompton Way and Castleton Street yesterday while inquiries were carried out.

His sister, Lois, aged 18, who went to Top o’ th’ Brow Primary School with her brother and also attended Sharples School, said they were very close.

She added: “He was a brilliant brother. He was cheeky and we used to wind each other up, but I was really close to him. He would do anything for me.

“He was my little big brother. I looked out for him and he looked out for me.”

His sister said they walked to the house in Tonge Moor Road but Cody told her he did not want any trouble.

His mother, Joanne, aged 36, said: “We are devastated.

I spoiled him. He is going to be missed. I am so very proud of him.”

His dad added: “We had a really good father-son relationship.

He was the brains of the family. Last night, I was just going to bed and his friend turned up in a car and said he had been stabbed.

“When I got to the hospital we were in a side room for about 90 minutes.

Then the sergeant and the doctor came in and told us he had passed away.”

His family said he was a quite lad but with a cheeky sense of humour.

They said he CRIME SCENE: A forensics officer in Tonge Moor Road who have been scouring the area where 17-year-old Cody, pictured below, was stabbed ‘Our son did not want any trouble’ was very witty and a very popular boy with more than 700 friends on Facebook.

He loved football, supporting Liverpool and playing for a local team in Hall i’th’ Wood.

His uncle, Aaron, said his friends looked up to him.

Shocked residents in Tonge Moor and Hall i’ th’ Wood described him as a nice, quite lad who kept himself to himself.

Sharples School headteacher Lynne Porter said: “Cody was a lively, articulate pupil; a very likable young man who had a wide circle of friends.

“He was an academically able student who achieved some good GCSE results and had the prospect of a bright future ahead of him.

“Cody was the epitome of a lad who enjoyed life — he was very sporty and threw himself into all sporting activities the school had to offer.

“It is a tragedy to see a young life come to an end in such circumstances and at this time. The thoughts of all of us, staff and students, are with his family and friends.”

Four people were last night being questioned by police in connection with the incident. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder, and a 34-year-old woman and two men aged 18 were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
