LOOKING at little Tyrese Efedede you would never know he was born six weeks premature.

When he arrived on May 29 last year, Tyrese, who weighed five pounds two ounces, had severe jaundice and could not feed, and needed specialist care at the Royal Bolton Hospital for nearly two weeks.

Now he is a happy and healthy 11- month-old and his mum, Kimberly Stewart, wants to thank the neonatal unit.

She has teamed up with friend, Emma Cumberbatch, who is also her son’s godmother, to stage Bolton Baby Show tomorrow.

The event will provide a fun day out for all the family, with information, stalls and activities, including local and small businesses.

It will also fundraise for the neonatal unit, with a collection and fundraisers, and the friends are also asking for people to knit tiny baby clothes and bring them along to donate.

Miss Stewart, aged 28, of Daubhill, said: “When Tyrese was born I just got on with it, but after he came home I had time to think about how wonderful the staff at the unit were.

“They were absolutely fantastic with us both. He is a normal, healthy, little boy and I am so grateful.

“I wanted to say thank you and do something to help.”

She and Miss Cumberbatch, who lives in Salford Quays, came up with the idea to hold the Bolton Baby Show. They will also be promoting messages that are important to them, like encouraging parents to use recyclable nappies.

Miss Cumberbatch, aged 31, who works at ScanAssure Medical Ultrasound in Ladybridge, sponsors of the event, said: “Tyrese is my godson so I wanted to do something to say thanks that he is here and is healthy.

“It will be a fun day, with lots going on, and we want to raise as much as we can.”

Bolton Baby Show will take place at the Holiday Inn, in Higher Bridge Street, in the town centre, between 11am and 4pm.

Admission is free but donations are welcome.
