BOLTON Wanderers are heading to the top of the table when it comes to causing their fans to sweat when listening to their matches on the radio.
A survey carried out for More Than car insurance revealed that 54 per cent of the club’s fans suffer sudden heart rate increases, decreased levels of concentration, sweaty hands or nausea when listening to a match commentary while driving.
This puts the club fourth in the Premiership table, with only Chelsea, Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City having more fans experiencing the same problems, which have been dubbed Final Score Syndrome.
Pete Markey, from More Than said: “We had a hunch Final Score Syndrome was commonplace among football fans and the fact that almost 500,000 people have had, or almost had a minor accident as a result only serves to back this up.
“Football fans are a passionate bunch but ultimately, if you’re driving there’s not a lot you can do to affect your team’s plight. We urge fans of all clubs to keep calm and carry on and remember, there’s always next season.”
