SIX people have been charged following an arson attack at a car recovery business used by police to store vehicles for forensic examination.

Firefighters were called to Linnyshaw Industrial Estate, off Moss Lane, Walkden, in the early hours of Monday, June 8, last year.

They found a huge blaze in a single-storey workshop at VRS (Vehicle Recovery Services).

The building is used to store vehicles pending an examination by forensic staff.

Lisa Smith, aged 28, of Marsland Street South, Donna Smith, aged 30, of Pegwell Drive, Anthony Ordish, aged 21, of Pegwell Drive, all Salford, Donna Davies, aged 30, of Duke Road, Hyde, Ian Cole, aged 49, of Kirkhill Avenue, Haslingden, and Amjad Hussain, aged 41, of Plover Close, Rochdale, have all been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

They are due to appear before Salford Magistrates'

Court on June 21.

● Richard Smith, aged 29, of Pegwell Drive, Lower Broughton, was being taken to court on Thursday, May 13 after being charged with conspiracy to commit arson in relation to this case when the van was attacked and Smith escaped.

He remains at large and is wanted by police.
