A TERRIFIED woman was targeted by roadside robbers in a “lightening quick” attack on her car.
The 30-year-old, from Bolton, stopped at a T-junction in Burnley when two men burst into the vehicle, pinned her down and tore her engagement ring from her finger.
Police have launched a witness appeal.
The attack happened at a junction in Red Lees Road, Cliviger, as the woman was driving her black Vauxhall Astra home from work at about 6pm. As she stopped, two men flung open the car doors, then held her while they pulled her engagement ring off, stole cash and a mobile phone.
One man was white, 5ft 7in and skinny, with short mousey brown hair and a crooked nose. He was said to be wearing a light coloured tracksuit top.
The second man was Asian or mixed race, with dark hair and dark-coloured clothes.
Both men are believed to be aged between 18 and 20.
Det Sgt Nicola Bithell said this type of Crime was extremely uncommon, but warned motorists to be on their guard and ensure their doors remained locked while travelling.
She said: “If anybody saw this incident or saw someone fitting these descriptions loitering in the area we would like to hear from them.”
Det Sgt Bithell specifically appealed for a man to come forward who offered to guide the woman to the motorway from a nearby petrol station.
