AN MP has been banned from driving — after being caught talking on her phone behind the wheel for a second time.

Yasmin Qureshi was also blasted by magistrates after admitting driving without insurance and has been ordered to pay a total of £1300.

The offences happened just days after she was elected as the MP for Bolton South East when she was spotted by police officers talking on her phone in Wigan Road, Bolton.

The court was told she already had nine points on her licence for two speeding matters and being caught on her phone.

The latest driving offences meant she was over 12 points can be banned under the totting up system.

She had the opportunity to plead with magistrates to keep her licence, but she chose not to and accepted the six month ban.

Qureshi, aged 47, of Morton Moss Court, Bolton, did not attend the hearing at Bolton Magistrates’ Court and was dealt with in her absence.
