HUNDREDS of visitors ensured that the annual Edgworth Horticultural Show was a blooming success.
About 300 people went to look at the colourful displays of plants, flowers and handicrafts at the Barlow Institute on Saturday.
Visitors also enjoyed homemade cakes and refreshments, as well as a plant sale and raffle, for which prizes were donated by local shops and businesses. All the proceeds are being donated to the Toybox appeal, which provides funding and support for homeless children in Latin America.
Judging took place at noon and prizes were presented by the vicar of St Anne’s Church in Turton, Rev Carole Johnston, who selected the charity.
Chairman Barbara Kenny said: “We have had a lot of entrants, including children and adults, and the standard has been very high. We have had a lot of people coming through the door to have a look. The show has gone very well.”
● Winners include, in the junior section; Elizabeth Glover, Sam Coomer, Anna Haslam, Tabitha Figgins and Jack Reeve. In the adult section; Jonathan Jones, Barry Scanlon, Chris Nightingale, Medwin Owen, Barbara Kenny, Debbie Jones, Doreen Healey, Lesley King, Avril Binns, Norman Woffenden, Gretchen Roth and Carol Murphy.
