A MASSIVE fire has been burning through the night at a waste recycling plant.
The blaze started at 2.06am in a storage building at Armstrongs Environmental in Chorley New Road, Horwich.
Several hundred tonnes of plastic waste was alight and a large plume of smoke came from the building.
A total of 60 firefighters have been battling the blaze and could be there for up to a week.
Water is being supplied from hydrants in Chorley New Road and the run-off is being captured and used again.
Chorley New Road was closed between its junctions with Ramsbottom Road and Victoria Road, but re-opened at 8am.
The fire comes less than three weeks after another blaze at Armstrongs, where ten tonnes of rotting waste set alight after overheating.
Two years ago, a huge fire at the site caused six days of disruption across Horwich.
