McFly will play their first ever Bolton gig at a charity event organised by Bolton Wanderers star Kevin Davies.

The band have confirmed that they will be playing Kevin Davies’ Masquerade Ball at the Reebok Stadium on March 5, as part of the fundraising event for the player’s charity Kids of Bolton.

“We’ve been chasing McFly for a while, so it’s the icing on the cake for us that we can confirm them,” said the Wanderers striker.

He revealed that Bolton boy Danny Jones asked him if the band could take part after the event was initially announced, but that there were doubts as to whether the four-piece would be able to fit it into their schedule.

“We never really expected them to be able to do it because they are so busy at the moment,” said Kevin.

“It’s brilliant that they are going to be able to make it.”

Danny said: “I’ve never played a gig in Bolton as part of McFly so I’m really looking forward to it. I really wanted to do it because it’s my home town, it’s a great cause and plus it’s Kevin Davies and I’m a massive Bolton fan.”

The event will also feature Bolton comedian and Take Me Out frontman Paddy McGuinness, who will be setting his celebrity pals up on dates like a modern-day Cilla Black.

DJ Spoony will be providing music, and dancing is expected to last long into the night, with people who have paid for places on VIP tables also able to carry on the party with Kevin with a casino event and afterparty.

“It will be our biggest fundraiser of the year, but there will also be lots more events that we have yet to confirm, so there will be something for everyone,”

said Kevin.

Danny said that he was aiming to watch the Bolton match the day before, joking that he hoped organisers didn’t send him home to sleep on his parents’ sofa while the other McFly boys were put up in a fancy hotel.

“It’ll be great, it’ll be a really good laugh,” he said.

Tickets for the event cost £1,000 per table of 10 or £1,250 for a VIP table. For more information: visit kidsofbolton.
