Don’t let goods go to waste

BOLTONIANS can now get rid of their used washing machines, tumble dryers and electric cookers safe in the knowledge they will be re-used by someone who needs them.

The Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) has launched a six-month pilot scheme at the Hurstwood Court Household Waste Recycling Centre at the Raikes Lane Industrial Estate, Bolton.

CREATE, a charity and social enterprise, will manage the scheme, which aims to see if it can make electrical re-use a viable and long-term option.

The white goods will be collected on a regular basis by CREATE and taken back to their depot where they will be tested, refurbished and then sold back to the community at affordable prices with a 12-month warranty.
