THE wife of Bolton Wanderers captain, Kevin Davies, has quit social networking website Twitter after she was subjected to vile abuse from online “bullies”.
Emma Davies announced on her Twitter account yesterday that she was “seriously sickened”
after comments were made following the Whites’ clash with Manchester United.
She added: “I will not be bullied, but going off Twitter for a while to concentrate on more important things like my family.”
Mrs Davies had been subjected to a barrage of abuse from Manchester United fans following Wanderers’ 5-0 defeat on Saturday.
It had been sparked by her husband’s tackle on Tom Cleverley, which resulted in ligament damage to the United midfielder’s foot.
Initially Mrs Davies had refused to be bullied into leaving the social networking site, but is now taking a temporary break.
Earlier this year, skipper Davies quit Twitter after he received online abuse.
Bolton comedian Paddy McGuinness also closed down his account last November after he received messages criticising his family.
