A TEENAGER broke down in tears in the witness box at Bolton Crown Court yesterday as she told how she was sexually assaulted by a man she had only met the day before.

The court heard when Abdul Mehri was arrested he denied the girl and her friends had been at his flat, but the 16-yearold girl was able to produce a video taken on her mobile phone just before the alleged attack and showing the inside of his home. Mehri, aged 24, of Tildsley Street, Daubhill, denies sexual assault.

Jane Dagnall, prosecuting, told the jury how the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, first met Mehri on January 16 when she went to his flat with her exboyfriend, cousin and her boyfriend. The following day they all travelled by bus from Radcliffe to Mehri’s flat where they spent the early evening talking and listening to music.

The girl told the court how, at about 9pm, she went to the bathroom to fix her make-up, but whilst there Mehri came into the room, shut the door and put his arms round her and asked her to perform a sex act on him.

When Mehri was arrested and told about the video the teenager had on her mobile phone of his flat, he refused to comment.

The case continues.
