PEOPLE are being encouraged to treat themselves — and help raise money for a lifechanging operation in America for a fouryear- old boy.
An event at Safiya’s Beauty Therapy, in Cannon Street, Deane,on Wednesday, December 28, will include packages for adults and children.
All the money raised will go to little Adam Oomer, of Smethurst Lane, Morris Green, who is pencilled in for selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouriin July.
Adam, a Heathfield Primary School pupil, was diagnosed with diplegic cerebral palsy when he was just 17- months-old.
It means he cannot walk easily without the aid of a frame as the condition means his brain sends incorrect signals to his legs, causing the muscles to tighten up. Adam has to walk on his tiptoes and often falls due to difficulties with his balance and coordination.
The operation, travel and accommodation will cost around £55,000. The operation would improve his walking, posture and balance. His family have raised more than £6,000 so far. Anyone who can help should visit helpadam.org.uk
