BOLTON has been handed £1.6 million of government money to build new homes — but council bosses say it is a “drop in the ocean”.
Housing Minister Grant Shapps confirmed the cash boost to 353 councils, which will receive a share of the £432 million New Homes Bonus.
The money can be spent on regenerating town centres, revamping local assets or reinvesting in local services, the Government said.
But locally Labour said the Government’s funding announcement was “old money” and not enough against a backdrop of £100 million cuts.
