BOLTON is to be branded as a destination for foodies and sporting events in a bid to attract more tourists and boost the economy by millions of pounds.
Council chiefs want to build on the successes of the Bolton Food and Drink Festival and Bolton Market, and use the town’s surrounding countryside to attract visitors.
The Ironman UK triathlon, which will take place for the fourth year in Bolton in 2012, will also form a large part of the town’s tourism hopes for this year. And council bosses will strive to ensure the event is secured in Bolton for years to come.
