TWO 14-year-old boys had to be rescued by Bolton Mountain Rescue Team when they got lost in the fog while walking on Rivington Moor.
More than 30 police and volunteers from the charity searched for the boys after one of their parents raised the alarm.
One of the boys had contacted their parents.
The boys, from Horwich, were walking between Rivington Pike and Winter Hill on Sunday just after 4.30pm and got lost in the fog.
Lancashire Police and BMRT met one of the boy’s fathers at George Lane and drove along the moorland track searching for the teenagers.
The two boys were guided back to the track by the flashing lights from the rescue car.
At 5.30pm they were found and were checked over by Alistair Greenough, who as well as being a member of BMRT is also an A&E nurse.
The boys were uninjured but were cold and wet.
Garry Rhodes, team leader of BMRT, said: “They were very lucky. At all times one of the boys was in phone contact with someone. It could have been considerably worse but it was over very quickly and they were okay.”
He advised people walking to wear suitable equipment and take food and drink in case of an emergency.
