Nottingham Panthers 10 Hull Stingrays 3

The playoff dream turned into a nightmare for Hull Stingrays, after they were on the receiving end of a comprehensive thrashing by Nottingham Panthers.

Nottigham broke the deadlock after nine minutes with a goal from David Clarke, but it was a devastating second period that broke Hull hearts and set Panthers on the road to the final.

Marc Lever grabbed a second for Panthers on 21 minutes and Sami Ryhanen got the third just 30 seconds later. Hull responded with a goal from Jason Silverthorn, but another two Panthers goals in 90 seconds ended the game as a contest. Clarke got his second on 30 minutes, followed by Rhett Gordon on 32 minutes. Matthew Myers tapped in a sixth with six seconds remaining of the period.

Stingrays had an encouraging start to the final period when Derek Campbell grabbed a second, but Panthers' seventh came less than a minute later from David Clarke, who celebrated his hat-trick.

By now Panthers were rampant, althougn Hull never gave up. David-Alexandre Beauregarde made it eight for Panthers on 47 minutes, and Robert Lachowicz got his first of the night, and Panthers' ninth, on 50 minutes.

Jordan Fox rounded off the Panthers' scoring on 54 minutes, while Sylvain Cloutier grabbed a late consolation for Stingrays.

Hull Stingrays playef coach Sylvain Cloutier said: "How we played tonight is a million miles away from how we played last week. We were up against a great team. That said, I am proud of what my guys have achieved this season. We did something that has never been done by a Hull team before, and we will leave here with our heads held high.

Nottingham Panthers player coach Corey Neilson said: "We have to work hard because every team wants to beat us, all the time. The guys did everything right, we clicked from the start of the game and we're ready to go tomorrow."
