A NEW hourly bus service serving the Royal Bolton Hospital could be introduced if transport bosses give it the green light this week.

Maytree Travel has proposed two new circular services, which will start and finish in the town centre and call at the hospital and Ladybridge.

The 502 and 503 services will operate hourly between Monday and Saturday during the daytime and evening and every 90 minutes on Sunday daytimes and evenings.

The routes are due to be effective from July 29.

They will stop at about 20 bus stops, including Plodder Lane, Smethurst Lane, Morris Green, Wigan Road and Deane Road.

Cllr David Chadwick, who represents Bolton on the Transport for Greater Manchester committee, said: “The services will be good. It’s not always easy finding a parking space at the hospital and there are lots of elderly people who don’t have their own car.

“From my point of view, Maytree are doing a fantastic service to Bolton residents by bringing in these routes.”

The proposed routes will be discussed at a meeting of the TfGM committee on Friday.
