A SECOND-hand shop is working with police to crack down on people trying to sell stolen mobile phones and computers.

Cash Converters in Bolton has a zero tolerance policy against stolen goods.

All customers have to supply two forms of identification as well as have their photograph taken.

The shop has taken it to the next level with mobiles and computers, which have to be run past the Checkmend system, allowing stores to see whether the phone has been reported to the police or mobile provider as stolen.

The store will also be notified for the next 30 days following the initial check in case the item is reported as stolen after the item has been sold to Cash Converters. Richard Pilgrim, business development manager said: “Our relationship with local police and systems like Checkmend are vital to our business. the stringent policies are enabling us to eliminate stolen goods passing through our store.”
