A MAN has been charged with the murder of mother-of-three Kelly Davies — almost two months after she was found stabbed to death in her flat.

Joseph Davies appeared at Bolton Magistrates’ Court yesterday on crutches.

The 35-year-old has been charged with the murder of Ms Davies on June 2.

Her body was discovered at her flat in Queen Street, Farnworth, two days later.

A post mortem examination revealed Ms Davies, aged 31, had died from stab wounds.

Davies was arrested in Holland on June 8, but has only recently been brought back to the UK because he was in hospital.

He was hit by a train in The Netherlands and lost part of his lower leg, it is understood.

Davies remained in hospital until he was fit to fly back to the UK.

Yesterday he hobbled up the stairs from the cells into the dock at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

He wore a blue shirt and walked with crutches.

Davies spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth, but told magistrates he did not have an address.

The clerk told him he had been charged with the murder of Kelly Davies on June 2.

He replied: “No I never.”

Andrew Hey, prosecuting, asked for the case to be committed to Manchester Crown Court, where Davies will appear on Monday.

Magistrates allowed him to stay seated while they told him about the next hearing.

Davies was remanded in custody.
