YOUNG archers aimed for success at the Bolton 2012 Games, The ancient skill of archery was practiced by young bowmen and women yesterday at Moss Bank Park.

The sporting event was the latest to be featured in the games festival, staged to celebrate the Olympics.

Archery is is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK John Wolfe, Bolton Lads and Girls Club senior sport co-ordinator, said: “Forty youngsters learnt basic archery techniques in what was a great event.

“It offered young people an opportunity to take part in a sport that they may otherwise not have had the chance to do so. I’m sure that this event may have inspired future Olympians.”

The Bolton 2012 Games have been inspired by London 2012, with the club and Bolton Council bringing the Olympic experience to young people in the borough.

Over the coming weeks more than 800 youngsters will have the chance to try 43 sports run by 40 clubs.

This weekend young sportsmen and women will be taking part in the table tennis and rugby.
