BUSINESSMAN and television star Alex Wotherspoon has his own apprentice — his newborn son.

The 29-year-old, who lives in Westhoughton , reached the final of the hit BBC show, The Apprentice, in 2008, and despite losing out to Lee McQueen, Alex impressed Lord Sugar, who offered him a job.

Since then, Alex has launched his own business — and now started his own family with wife, Hannah. Moses Arran was born five weeks early, on Monday, August 20, and weighed 5lb and 14oz.

But mum Hannah, aged 28, and dad Alex say he is doing well and is “as good as gold”.

Alex said: “Hannah’s great-granddad was called Moses and he lived in the same cottage where we now live. The island of Arran is our favourite holiday destination in Scotland.

“He’s very quiet and well-behaved, and causes no trouble — like his dad.” To celebrate the arrival of Moses, the couple have been given a Silver Cross pram by Hannah’s parents.Alex said: “It’s really nice but it’s massive — like a Rolls Royce of prams — so little Moses is like a pea in a drum when he’s inside it.”

It was when Hannah became pregnant that Alex decided the time was right to launch his own firm — ARW Wealth Management — so he could fit work in around his family.

He said: “I’ve had a really busy start to the business and hopefully things will continue that way. I’m loving it.”

The Bolton business focuses on investments, pensions, ISAs, life protection and other services.

Alex grew up in Lostock and attended Bolton School. After reaching the final of The Apprentice he modelled for magazines and appeared in the BBC’s Hole In The Wall.

Lord Sugar offered him a job with one of his companies, Xenon — the northern branch computer company Viglen — where he worked for four months.

After working for four years for Santander, Alex launched his own firm.
