BROTHERS Vincent and Darren Kelly were well known and respected, both for their business and charity work , friends and colleagues said.

Vincent, aged 50, and his 45-year-old brother, Darren, were described respectively as “a dedicated family man” and “a first class guy”.

They had two other brothers, John and Brian, who were too upset to talk following the tragedy.

Vincent, aged 50, was a director of Doric Developments, based in Myrtle Street, Bolton.

He was known for his huge support of the Bolton Lads and Girls Club, and would often embark on challenges to raise thousands of pounds for the club and other good causes.

Mr Kelly was wellknown in the community and played second row for Bolton Rugby Union Club second team from the mid-1990s until 2000.

The father-of-two from Lostock stopped playing to focus on his family life, but he continued to attend social nights at the club with his wife, Jane.

Mr Kelly’s friend of more than 25 years, Mark Brocklehurst, said: “There aren’t enough words to describe just how wonderful Vincent was — a dedicated family man with a generous heart of gold who was a perfect role model for all.”

A number of vehicles were parked in the driveway of Mr Kelly’s home address in Lostock, but his family were too upset to talk about the tragedy.

Several neighbours were also too upset to speak in detail.

One said: “I am so shocked, I just can't believe it. He was such a nice man, he would always help people out.”

Darren, aged 45, was as a property developer and businessman who was said to be semi-retired and had moved to the Isle of Whithorn, a village in southern Galloway, Scotland, in the last few years.

He built a number of flats in the area, and was also a board member of Isle Futures, a regeneration project dedicated to improving the economic, social and environmental life of the Isle of Whithorn.

A friend, who asked not to be named, said Mr Kelly and his older brother had been on a trekking exhibition to Everest when they died.

He said: “Darren had been a holidaymaker to the Isle of Whithorn for many years, and he was gradually moving himself here for retirement.

“He was originally from Bolton and also lived in Stockport before moving here a few years ago.

“He owned a number of flats in the area which he had developed as holiday homes .

“Darren was just a really nice bloke. You would struggle to find anyone who could say anything bad about him. He was just a first class guy.”

Mr Kelly was a father, but it is unclear how many children he had.

His wife is understood to have returned to Bolton to be with family.

Another resident of the town, who also asked not to be named, said: “I was shocked when I saw it on the news.

“You don't want anything bad to happen to anyone you know.

“He really was a nice person and he's done a lot for this area.”
