OLYMPIC cycling hero Jason Kenny was among those honoured at the eighth annual Bolton Sports and Physical Activity Alliance (BoSPAA) awards held at the Reebok Stadium on Friday night.

At the glittering event, he was presented with an “Outstanding Elite Achievement” award, one of 12 accolades presented during the evening.

Around 100 individuals and sporting clubs competed for the awards which recognised local sporting stars for their contribution to sport and physical activity in the borough.

Jason is Bolton’s most successful Olympian to date after winning gold in the men’s team sprint and the individual sprint at London 2012. He also won gold and silver medals in Beijing four years ago.

The awards, sponsored by the University of Bolton, were organised by BoSPAA which is made up of local organisations, including Bolton Council, who support clubs and organisations to deliver sport. All the winners now go on to represent Bolton at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.
