BOLTON Wanderers striker Marvin Sordell has claimed he was the victim of racist abuse on the pitch at Millwall. The 21-year-old has taken to the social networking website, Twitter, to criticise supporters at The Den who chanted alleged racist abuse at him, Benik Afobe, Darren Pratley and Chung-Yong Lee. Sordell said: “Putting the match aside, its 2012 in England and people are still shouting racist abuse at a football match. “Chungy, Pratts, Benik and I had all sorts of things said to us.” Bosses from both Wanderers and Millwall have now launched an investigation into the allegations. Millwall are also speaking to both match officials and the police. A statement from Wanderers said: “Marvin Sordell has made Bolton Wanderers aware that he was subject to alleged racist abuse during the game against Millwall. “We are now working with Millwall to investigate and the club have informed us that they will speak to the police and match officials. “Both clubs remain determined that racist behaviour or language will not be tolerated.” Millwall also issued a statement, saying: "Millwall and Bolton Wanderers are investigating allegations made by Bolton player Marvin Sordell that he was subjected to racial abuse by an individual whilst warming up as a substitute during Saturday’s Championship clash at The Den. "The two clubs remain determined to do everything in their power to ensure that racist behaviour will not be tolerated. "We will be speaking to the police and the match officials on this matter but no further comment will be made until this process has been completed and the investigations have been concluded." Sordell also received abusive responses to his allegations on Twitter. He added: "Funniest thing is if had come on and scored and gave them some back, i would be the one who got fined.” Bolton Wanderers are now in discussions about the situation. The Whites were beaten 2 – 1.

Can you imagine the negative publicity the club would receive if we removed Coyle from his post whilst this investigation is taking place? Who would ever come to Bolton, as a manager, if we did this now?
