POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old was the victim of an attempted mugging in Worsley Woods.

He was approached by a man who asked whether he had a cigarette. When he said no, the man asked him whether he had been mugged.

The victim said no before the thief said: “Well you are about to” and appeared to reach into his pocket.

The teenager ran off before any property was stolen.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened on September 18, can ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
