ASPIRING cricketers have been getting to grips with the sport at a summer camp.
Nearly 30 boys and girls aged between five and 13 attended Little Hulton Cricket Club for three days of training. Children were inspired by professional coach Liam Watkinson, from Edgworth Cricket Club, and Stephen Parry, from Lancashire Cricket Club, who both attended the camp which ran from last Wednesday to Friday.
Mark Lee, who helped organise the event, said: “We had five coaches doing all the basic cricket skills with children for three days. About seven or eight of the children had never played cricket before.
“We have been doing the summer camp for the last four years and quite a lot of the kids sign up to the club.
“We hope to be doing the camp again next year.”
At the end of the sessions youngsters were given certificates and trophies at the club in Manchester Road West.
