Paddy McGuinness stars alongside Arg from Towie in Pizza Hut Restaurants' 'viral' video
LET the pizza see the hut!
Take Me Out presenter Paddy McGuinness is taking time out of matchmaking to concentrate on mischief-making in some new viral videos shot with Pizza Hut Restaurants.
The comic has been filming a series of short videos with James “Arg” Argent from The Only Way Is Essex to celebrate 40 years of the popular restaurant chain — and Paddy too, who celebrated the milestone birthday last month.
In the first instalment, the Bolton funnyman has been cast as the new chief customer officer at one of the Pizza Hut Restaurants — but in true Paddy style he cannot let the 2:23 minute duration go without saying one of his infamous catchphrases.
Paddy, who recently became a father for the first time to twins Leo and Penelope with wife Christine, spoke to The Bolton News about his new venture, settling down — but first, he had something very important to clear up with his favourite newspaper.
Paddy said: “You need to sort something out for me. I took my wife into Bolton town centre not long ago and I couldn’t believe that my bank is now The Bolton News. Where’s my bank gone?
“I’ll be coming into the offices to get my cash next time.”
Banks aside, Paddy, who is best known for working alongside fellow Boltonian Peter Kay in Phoenix Nights, has been working with new best friend Arg for the videos, and has taken influence from an unlikely source.
He said: “I play myself in the virals — but more of a David Brent influenced version. I’ve been given a job there as chief customer officer and the power has gone to my head, and Arg — or Reg as I like to call him — is one of my poor co-workers.
“He was great to work with. He’s a lovely lad.
“We’ve also been filming some hidden camera stuff where the customers don’t know I’m there. It’s been great fun.”
Paddy, who celebrated the birth of his twins and his 40th in just one month, he says he is now more likely to stay in at night than go out and party.
He added: “With the job I do right from the start it’s party, party, and I’ve kind of done all that drinking — I much prefer staying in with friends and family than going out to a bar.
“The virals will be out by the time I’m well and truly 40 and in my dad pants — although I’ll be telling everyone I’m 38.
“Getting older doesn’t bother me — that’s life isn’t it?”
