Teen beauty queen's win is best present for great grandad's 80th birthday
WHEN beauty pageant contestant Ella Ravenscroft was crowned Miss Junior Teen GB, her day was made extra special because it was her great grandad’s 80th birthday.
Ella, aged 15, beat 43 other girls to be crowned at a glitzy event at the Globe Theatre in Blackpool on August 30.
Proud great grandfather Alan Carlisle, and great grandma Eileen, aged 82, from Heaton, cheered along with Ella’s mum, Sarah Pritchard, when she was announced the winner.
Miss Junior Teen GB is only the third pageant that aspiring actress and model Ella has entered — and she has already had roles in Waterloo Road, The 4 O’Clock Club, and appeared in a Littlewoods catalogue.
Mum Mrs Pritchard, aged 38, said: “When she was announced the winner she burst into tears, I burst into tears and her great grandad leapt up like he was at a football match.
“He was so overwhelmed — and to make it extra special it was his 80th birthday. They’re really close.
“He’d come to see Ella for the first time with her great grandma and they really enjoyed it. We’re all so proud of her.”
Ella, who won a modelling contract among other prizes.
Mrs Pritchard said: “Ella has only been in two other pageants before this one and in her second she came third. She loves modelling and her dream is to be on TV. She’s already done some filming for Waterloo Road and The 4 O’Clock Club, and she has modelled in Littlewoods.
“As a reigning queen she now needs to be helping out in the community and she’s looking to help out with functions and charity events.”
