YOUNGSTERS had fun in the sun as Bolton basked in the heat.

Families in Moss Bank Park enjoyed the morning planting peas and sniffing out the curry plant in the sensory garden at the Hive before enjoying a well-earned ice cream.

Mum-of-two Jo Dawson, from Horwich, said: “It’s so nice to have a place like this on your doorstep. We’ll be spending a lot of the summer holidays here — especially if the weather stays like this.”

And at Blackrod House residential care home, residents Colin Smith and Marion Carling enjoyed a cooling ice cream yesterday.

The good weather is set to continue throughout today.

The Met Office said conditions would be much the same as yesterday, with the mercury once again hitting 26C.

Over the weekend the warm weather is set to stick around on Saturday, where Bolton will see highs of 24C, but clouds will be more of a feature than clear blue sky and, by Sunday, the temperature falls a little to a cloudy 19C.
