MEMBERS of the Bolton Society for Blind People group are getting on their bikes — to cycle 488 miles in seven days.

The Mile 4 Member event, part of the World Sight Day activities, will see the group aiming to rack up one mile for each of its 488 registered members.

Between October 6 and October 12, they will be at various places around the town centre including Victoria Square, Barclays Bank and Specsavers, with two spin bikes donated by V1ntage Gym.

The members will also be teaming up with Wheels for All, an initiative run by Bolton Council that develops cycling activities for those people with disabilities or differing needs, and Bury Tandem Club, to complete the challenge.

Justine Watson, charity co-ordinator at BSBP, said: “We’re going to be cycling 488 miles throughout the week, and that includes volunteers, staff and members.”

World Sight Day is on October 9. For more details or to get involved, contact 01204 332323.
