A LIZARD was given oxygen therapy after it was rescued from a house fire in Chorley Old Road.

The bearded dragon was pulled out of the kitchen at the terraced house in Chorley Old Road, Bolton, at about 11am today.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, a woman was outside the house with her two husky dogs, but she told them that her pet lizard was still inside.

They went in and put out the blaze, which they believe was caused by an electrical fault behind the fridge-freezer.

The firefighters found the lizard in its tank and took it out to the fire engine where they gave it oxygen.

The lizard is understood to have made a full recovery.

Watch manager Tony McKenna, from Bolton central fire station, said: “The fire caused a lot of damage to the kitchen."
