MORE than 50 revellers were evacuated from a 1980s revival bar after smoke filled the dancefloor.
Staff from Reflex in Deansgate, Bolton, alerted firefighters after smoke began seeping from a cleaning cupboard next to the nightclub area at 1.45am today.
They then evacuated customers – mostly students – from the club, which was staging its Thursday Temptation night with DJ Murf.
Fire officers used a ventilator to clear the smoke from club and the smoke caused minor damage.
“The smoke was coming from a cleaning cupboard and it looks like it may have started with a discarded cigarette in the bin or perhaps a build up of waste that had been swept up earlier,” said a Fire Service spokesman.
He added: “There was an orderly evacuation and the nightclub staff dealt with it well. Noone was injured.”
The club closed - as scheduled - shortly after the incident.
